Advocacy for Farmers' Rights and Interests

AFAN serves as a unified voice for Nigerian farmers, advocating for policies and programs that protect and promote their rights and interests. It engages with government bodies to influence agricultural policies, subsidies, and support mechanisms that benefit farmers.

Capacity Building and Training

The association organises training programs, workshops, and seminars to build farmers’ skills and knowledge. This includes education on best agricultural practices, pest and disease management, post-harvest handling, and market strategies.

Facilitation of Access to Inputs and Resources

AFAN helps farmers gain better access to essential farming inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, equipment, and credit facilities. By organizing collective bargaining and partnerships, the association reduces costs and improves availability of resources.

Promotion of Agricultural Development

The association plays a critical role in promoting agricultural development by encouraging modern farming techniques, improved crop production, and sustainable farming practices. AFAN helps farmers access new technologies and innovations to increase productivity.

Market Access and Price Stabilization

AFAN assists farmers in accessing markets for their produce, helping to negotiate fair prices and reduce exploitation by middlemen. It also works to stabilize prices through collective marketing and storage solutions, ensuring farmers get reasonable returns.

Promotion of Social and Economic Welfare

Beyond farming, AFAN advocates for the social and economic welfare of farmers and their families. This includes efforts to improve rural infrastructure, healthcare, education, and social security for farming communities
